If you hear a song that sounds like dark heavy metal and gives you an overall feeling that something bad is about to happen (or is already happening), then you’ve probably stumbled across some gothic music. Gothic music artists do a pretty good job of conveying through song the angst and turmoil of life. This may explain why gothic music fans are usually teens or young adults.

Few people know much about gothic music bands since most goth musicians prefer to release their music through independent record labels rather than the commercially-known ones. The most famous goth music band, though few know it, is The Cure.
